Meeting with USAID
On May 18th, Meeting with USAID was held at the AmCham Uzbekistan Office.
Oybek Khalilov, president of AmCham Uzbekistan; Abdulkhamid Muminov, BOD member; Tatyana Bystrushkina, AmCham Executive Director; Nikolay Yarmov, AmCham Advisor and Genadiy Uberia, UHX company, joined the meeting with USAID representatives, which included:
Dr. Scott Hedlund – Economic Growth Office Director;
Iulia Sandu – USAID private enterprise office at the USAID Mission in Uzbekistan;
Megan Lefeber – Senior Economic and Private Capital Advisor, USAID Bureau for Asia;
Jamila Amadeo – Senior Energy Advisor with USAID’s Center for Environment, Energy and Infrastructure team within the DDI Bureau;
Bahtiyor Mirzabaev – Project Management Specialist at USAID/Uzbekistan Mission.
USAID is exploring opportunities to expand economic growth programming in Uzbekistan to achieve the new economic growth intermediate results outlined in the upcoming USAID Strategy for Uzbekistan:
- Competitiveness and diversification of the private sector increased
- Natural resources management improved
- Business enabling environment for market-based economy improved.
During the meeting the sides discussed prospects of cooperation.
